About Me

Hello and welcome to Flap Daddy,

I’m Jamie a 30 something former teacher and curator of Flap daddy.

As you may have guessed, I am a family man and live with my partner Emily, two little ones Katelyn & Jack and of course our rough collie dog, Carlos.

We live in Cornwall in the UK and are a pretty content little family unit.

You’re probably wondering how I came about to be a full-time family blogger and I’ll tell you. Following the birth of our first child, Katelyn, Emily was due to go back to work as a doctor and we were truly torn at the thought of leaving our little ones all day every day for the next 18 or so years.

I decided to take the plunge and do my job as a secondary school teacher part-time. After spending half my week with the baby, I was still struggling with going to work for the other three days and eventually decided to become a full-time dad.

To help with the income, I became a free-lance writer and tutor which eventually brought me to create Flap Daddy.

I was experiencing so many new things as a full-time dad and got a real insight into the world of the mums out there. I was attending baby classes, swimming lessons and nursery, of which I was the only dad! I decided to start blogging about our family life as I truly think being a stay at home dad is something really unique and can really help other dads out there.

Flap Daddy is all about our journey and family life, from tantrums to school and family holidays, we’ve covered it all and like to share as much as we can with the world.

From tips and advice in parenting to help on how to get through the day (we all have them) then I’m Super Dad, here to save the day.

I have been blogging for almost 10 years now and Flap Daddy is now home to a wonderful community of likeminded Dad’s who all need a little help and support sometimes.

I like to think I’ve covered it all but as the girls grow older, every day is a school day and I find myself constantly being surprised and amazed by them.
